University lecturer, INAR
Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) is a multi- and interdisciplinary research unit based in physics, chemistry, meteorology, forest sciences, environmental sciences and social sciences in the University of Helsinki. INAR aims to strengthen the internationally leading, integrated multidisciplinary research and education environment for atmospheric and Earth system science and to feed in scientific results for the national and international environment and climate policy. It performs multiscale research from molecular to global scale and focuses on climate change, air quality, biogeochemical cycles and ecosystem processes. INAR is part of the Atmosphere and Climate Competence Centre (ACCC), a Research Council of Finland flagship programme, with partners in Finnish Meteorological Institute, University of Eastern Finland and Tampere University.

The Faculty of Science invites applications for a
UNIVERSITY LECTURER
for a fixed-term of three years starting 1.4.2026.
The main duties are teaching for joint bachelor, master and doctoral programs in atmospheric sciences with Nanjing University, supervision of doctoral students and examination of BSc, MSc and PhD theses. The teaching will be performed mainly on-site at Nanjing University campuses in China. The work requires teaching experience in the present degree programmes in atmospheric sciences at the University of Helsinki (ATM-MP and ATM-DP) or equivalent experience of teaching similar courses. The duties of a university lecturer also include research. Working language is English.
An ideal candidate has experience in meteorology. However, any applicant with relevant experience in atmospheric sciences is considered.
Teaching experience and pedagogical training are considered as a merit.
The appointee to the position of the university lecturer shall hold an applicable doctoral degree and be able to provide high-quality research-based teaching. The degree requirement must be met before the end of the application period.
The salary is based on the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary range is from 4600-5300 euros per month depending on the qualifications and seniority of the selected candidate.
