Faculty of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of a 


University Lecturer in Industrial Pharmacy 

 

for a fixed term position (substitution) for 1 September 2025 (or as agreed) – 30 April 2029. The appointment includes a six months probationary period. The position possibly continues as a permanent position 1 May 2029 onwards without a new call. The position will be at the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology.
 

Industrial pharmacy is a discipline that includes pharmaceutical manufacturing, product development, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, marketing, wholesale and quality assurance of all these above.


University Lecturer position involves research and teaching in industrial pharmacy. University Lecturer is expected to carry out active independent research in industrial pharmacy (including applications for external funding). Research in industrial pharmacy includes laboratory research and qualitative research.
 

The teaching responsibilities of the University Lecturer include lecture, group and remote teaching. Teaching focuses on the international post-graduate specialisation education and other curricula in industrial pharmacy such as pre-graduate national degree programme of Master in Pharmacy and international Master’s Programme in Pharmaceutical Research, Development and Safety. The specialisation education is targeted to those having M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in pharmacy and working in pharmaceutical industry or wholesale. 
 

University Lecturer is on his/her behalf responsible for the supervision of theses (Master’s and Bachelor’s theses, research projects of specialising pharmacists and Master of pharmacy students, as well as doctoral theses). University Lecturer also participates in the administrative tasks of the university, for example in the development of the curricula. Development of teaching is an important part of the tasks of the University Lecturer.
 

What we expect
 

An appointee to the position shall hold an applicable doctoral degree and be able to provide high-quality teaching based on research and to supervise theses and dissertations. The degree requirement must be met by the end of the application deadline.
 

Previous work experience in pharmaceutical industry and/or wholesale is required as it is necessary especially in regards to the teaching tasks.


When considering the applicants’ qualifications for the position, attention shall be given to scientific publications and other research results of scientific value, teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce teaching material, other teaching merits and a demonstration of teaching skills. The top applicants will be separately invited to the demonstration of teaching skills. For a University Lecturer position, the minimum requirement of teaching skills as a whole is at least good.
 

To successfully attend the duties of the position, the appointee should be initiative, have good cooperation and interaction skills, as well as be interested in developing teaching and research in industrial pharmacy.
 

The position in question and teaching duties require proficiency in English. Proficiency in Finnish is considered an advantage. If the appointee is not proficient in Finnish, they are expected to acquire moderate proficiency within a reasonable time after the appointment. Support for language studies is offered.

The salary of the position is based on levels 6−7 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of the Finnish universities. Monthly gross salary will be about 4 000–5 500 euros depending on the appointee’s work experience and merits.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Helsinki conducts research in pharmacy and provides the highest education in the field.
