Trainee to support the work of the Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ)

The University of Helsinki International trainee programme is open to all international students enrolled in a University of Helsinki master’s programme.

We are now looking for a TRAINEE to support the work of the Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ).

The duration of a traineeship is from 1 September to 31 December 2025 (four months) of part-time (55%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €825 per month for a part-time (55%) trainee.

INEQ is a research network in multidisciplinary inequality studies that brings together scholars form different faculties, including social and educational sciences as well as humanities and theology, working on issues related to inequalities and social justice. INEQ also coordinates the work of RESET (Resilient and Just Systems), a transdisciplinary research environment that seeks to build bridges between social and life sciences to generate new knowledge on global socio-ecological challenges and to develop solutions that are both just and sustainable. 
 

The trainee will assist in running regular activities of the network, including event organization and communication. The trainee will also support the implementation of the lecture course Introduction to Inequality Studie (SOSK-209), a course in the Bachelor's Programme in Social Sciences (taught in Teaching Period 1, September – October 2025) that introduces different scholarly perspectives and debates to questions related to in/equality in a global world.

About the position

As part of their responsibilities, the trainee will help out with the day-to-day activities of INEQ, including the organization of workshops and seminars and communication in connection to the different events, updating the INEQ/RESET websites, and participating in the regular activities of the network.
 

The trainee will also help with the preparation of the course materials for SOSK-209 including the Moodle page for the course. The trainee will help upload relevant course materials, compile assignments and keep track of class attendance as well as support communication with the SOSK-209 students and teachers. The trainee is not expected to attend the lectures but may do so if interested.
 

The person we are looking for

We are looking for dynamic individual interested in inequalities and learning about the day-to-day work of INEQ. Position requirements:
1.    User knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
2.    Knowledge of Moodle, Drupal, and WordPress would be an asset
