TRAINEE for the Department of Finnish, Finno-Ugrian and Scandinavian Studies

The University of Helsinki Trainee Programme for International Master Students is open to all international students enrolled in a University of Helsinki master’s programme.

 

We are now looking for TRAINEES for the Department of Finnish, Finno-Ugrian and Scandinavian Studies!
There are two positions open.


A research-oriented trainee position:
Your main tasks as a trainee are assisting in research work (references, bibliographies), organization of research materials, digitalization, transcription, social media updates, organization of events and travels.

We expect you to have:

  • Working knowledge of English, possibly also in Portuguese 
  • A proven ability to write high-quality texts for a variety of audiences
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Sámi or Indigenous Studies is considered a plus when applying.

A teaching-oriented trainee position:
The position is ideal for anyone interested in teaching Finnish/other languages in the future and requires at least a B2 level of Finnish. 

 

The job involves getting to know the teacher's everyday life (meetings, seminars, student meetings, etc.) and a variety of tasks to support teachers, such as 

  • assisting in elementary Finnish courses and self-study courses
  • organising events in cooperation with other staff (e.g. alumni evening) 
  • other tasks, such as organising the library

The duration of the traineeship is from 1 September to 31 December 2025 (four months) of part-time (55%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €825 per month for a part-time (55%) trainee.
