Specialist in International Affairs
The University of Helsinki aims to make strong global influence. Do you want to drive change and contribute to the university’s strategic internationalisation? We are seeking a development-oriented specialist to work closely with university leadership, international partners and colleagues promoting internationalisation at the university.
Your Role
Your primary responsibility will be to advance the university’s internationalisation goals by planning and coordinating leadership visits. You will manage the development process for such visits and create a new service portfolio for international visits. Additionally, you will be responsible for the implementation of these visits.
Through strategic international partnerships, the university seeks to strengthen collaboration and achieve long-term global impact. In this role, you will be responsible for two strategic partnerships. You will also contribute to broader development work and communications related to international partnerships. Furthermore, you will consult and support university leadership on other tasks and assignments related to international cooperation.
About You
You are eager to build and implement the University of Helsinki’s strategic internationalisation initiatives while developing related partnerships, new initiatives, and services. You have experience with international collaboration and facilitating such efforts within the higher education sector. Previous experience in leadership support functions, event coordination, or service development is an asset. You hold a master’s degree.
You are a strong candidate if the prospect of developing international operations excites you, and you are equally comfortable handling routine operational tasks. You have a strong service mindset, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and schedules. You can prioritise and focus your work according to the university’s strategy. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in English is required. We also expect at least satisfactory Finnish language skills and a willingness to strengthen your Finnish through on-the-job learning.
About Us
You will join the International Affairs Unit, a team of eight experts within Research Services. The unit is responsible for planning and implementing the comprehensive global programme launching in 2025. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the university’s implementation plan and build strategic Nordic, European, and global collaborations. Our culture values teamwork, and we are motivated by meaningful and impactful work.
We support your professional growth. You will collaborate closely with university leadership, faculties, international partners and colleagues working in international affairs across university services. You will also receive support from Research Services’ extensive network of approximately 150 experts and other professionals within university services.

Terms and Salary
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience based on the University salary system and will in the beginning of the employment be approximately 4000 - 4500 €/month.
