Your Role:

As a Software Developer, you will play a critical role in:

• Developing Tools: Create computational tools and web UIs for efficient data browsing and visualisation.
• Building Infrastructure: Implement big data analysis solutions to support complex queries and visualisations.
• Pipeline Development: Design data-analysis pipelines for robust and reproducible processing of large datasets.

What You Bring:

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Solid foundation in basics of data structures and algorithms
• 1-3 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in some general purpose programming language such as Python, Java or C++
• Experience with infrastructure as code, e.g. Terraform.
• Experience with web UI development (React, TypeScript or JavaScript).
• Strong understanding of databases (RDBMS, SQL, NoSQL) and experience with Linux, shell scripting, git, and containerization.
• Good English communication skills; fluency in Finnish is not required.

Strong Assets:

• Experience with cloud computing (preferably Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of genetics, large-scale genotyping, sequencing data, and electronic health records (EHR).
• Familiarity with statistics, machine learning, and big data technologies.
• Knowledge of R statistical programming language

The position offers an initial contract until August 31, 2027, with a 6-month trial period with likely extension depending on the project status. Salary is based on the University of Helsinki's salary system (YPJ), considering qualifications, experience, and performance.
