Research Infrastructure Technician

The Flow Cytometry unit is one of the HiLIFE life science research infrastructures at the University of Helsinki. The unit operates at two locations: the Viikki Flow Cytometry unit on the Viikki campus and the Biomedicum Flow Cytometry unit on the Meilahti campus.

We invite applications for a fixed term Research Infrastructure technician position at the Biomedicum Flow cytometry unit in Meilahti. We are seeking a substitute for a parental leave until end of September 2026. Preferably a person with background in flow cytometry, to support customers with their flow cytometry experiments. The person will contribute to the maintenance of the unit and participate in daily maintenance of the instrumentation. The role encompasses a variety of tasks, the exact work profile will be tailored based on the selected candidate´s background. The tasks will include:

  • Assisting users with the operation of flow cytometers
  • Performing maintenance and calibration of instruments
  • Preparing and supporting the analysis of flow cytometry data
  • Providing customer assistance for data analysis
  • Staying current with advancements in the field through training and education

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related discipline
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience in flow cytometry
  • Experience in data analysis is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • A service-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in working with diverse stakeholders

 


SALARY AND CONTRACT

The position is offered for a fixed term until end of September 2026. Salary will be based on the university salary system and depend upon the applicant's level of skills, knowledge, and abilities (2900-3300 €/month).
