Research Coordinator / Project Planner

Faculty of Science invites applications for
RESEARCH COORDINATOR / PROJECT PLANNER for a fixed period of 1.9.2024-30.11.2025. Reason for the fix-term employment contract is parental leave substitution.

 


Description of the position


The Digital Geography Lab is an interdisciplinary research group at the Faculty of Science, focused on spatial big data analytics on a human scale to support the planning of fair and sustainable societies. Most of the Lab’s research uses large spatial data sets to understand the interactions between people, and between people and their environment.


GREENTRAVEL (Greener Travel Environments for Everyone – from measured wellbeing impacts to Big Data analytics) is a European Research Council -funded project at the Digital Geography Lab that carries out a broad range of research from controlled experiments with human subjects to big data analytics in several European cities.


The research coordinator /project planner will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the GREENTRAVEL project in particular, and more broadly the activities of Digital Geography Lab. The position involves supporting GREENTRAVEL research activities, financial and scientific reporting, ensuring compliance with research ethics and funder’s requirements, and facilitating communication among team members, stakeholders, collaborators and the broader public.

 


Requirements and eligibility criteria


We are seeking for a motivated and self-guided candidates holding a PhD or an MSc degree, preferably in a related field of science (geography or social or environmental sciences). The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in English and preferably in other project languages (Finnish, German, Spanish, Danish).

We value experience of scientific communication and knowledge on research work practices, including open science and data management practices. Skills in facilitation, statistical analysis, (spatial) data management and visualisation are highly valued. The appointee is expected to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and international working community and in close collaboration with stakeholders.

Salary, benefits and the working environment


The title and the salary of the chosen candidate will depend on their degree (PhD or MSc) and experience. For an MSc the title will be Project Planner and the salary c. 3400 - 3900 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience. For a PhD the title will be Research Coordinator and the salary c. 3700 - 4300 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
