Postdoctoral Researcher in the Field of Inborn Errors of Immunity and B cell function

Juha Grönholm’s research group “Immune Cell Signaling” at the Translational Immunology Research Program at University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine invites applications for the position of postdoctoral researcher who has a strong background in bioinformatics.

 

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

 

Our research group focuses on molecular mechanisms of human inborn errors of immunity and gene regulatory pathways in human lymphocytes. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work on a Research Council of Finland – funded project focusing on enhancer landscapes and transcriptomics in human B lymphocytes both in health and disease. The suitable candidate would need to have either degree or extensive experience in computational sciences.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for ambitious researchers with a PhD, a solid publication record, and strong background in some of the following experimental/computational areas:

 

  • Strong programming skills in R for data analysis and visualization, and proficient in Unix command line environments for data processing
  • Single-cell omics
  • Methods to study chromatin interactions such as Hi-C, Omni-C
  • Experience with Python is an advantage
  • Whole exome or/and whole genome sequencing data analysis

 

We encourage candidates to develop their own projects and explore new research directions that will support their transition to an independent career. Applicants should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, where strong communication skills in English are needed. Previous experience on immunology or immune-mediated diseases is also a benefit. The chosen applicant is also expected to participate in guidance of PhD students.

 

The chosen applicant is expected to reside in Finland while employed by the University of Helsinki. The workplace of the position is at Meilahti campus in Helsinki.

The monthly gross starting salary will be appr. 3700-4000 € per month depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
