Summary of the project

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our research-to-business project aiming to commercialize a technology to boost next-generation biosensors. Biosensors have applications in different industries, including health technologies. A particular application area is wearable devices for continuous glucose monitoring. Our technology aims to improve the durability and sensitivity of biosensors to improve existing sensors and to enable new technologies for a wide range of biomarkers and application areas.

 

Skills, expertise and/or qualifications

•    Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in materials science or a related field
•    Strong skills in electrochemistry
•    Previous experience in assay development using screen-printed electrodes is considered a significant merit
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English)
•    Strong problem-solving skills
•    Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary, international project team, including researchers and commercialization experts

 

The position is particularly suited to candidates with an innovative mindset who are enthusiastic about working at the academia–industry interface. The duties of the Postdoctoral Researcher include experimental development and optimization of biosensors, performing electrochemical analyses, collaborating closely with commercial partners, and actively participating in entrepreneurship training and business-oriented discussions.

 

Contract & salary
The salary is defined in accordance with the University’s salary system for teaching and research personnel (ca. 3400–4000 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience). The position is funded by Business Finland research-to-business project until 31.12.2026. A trial period of six months will be applied. The position will be filled as soon as possible, or as agreed with the selected candidate.
