PROJECT COORDINATOR
for a permanent position.
The employee will work at the University of Helsinki Meilahti campus supporting the research group led by associate professor Eliisa Kekäläinen. This research group studies the human thymus with modern system’s immunology approaches. The team consists of researchers with experimental, clinical or computational background. They work in close collaboration with Helsinki University Hospital. The recruited project coordinator might be working with other research groups with similar work duties after the onboarding period in Eliisa Kekäläinen’s group.
The duties
The successful candidate will assist in the coordination and administration of the research group together with its leader and other researchers. The tasks include planning and organizing events, meetings and trainings, facilitating collaboration with partner organizations and institutions, and communications between the partners and the public. As a project coordinator, your duties will involve support in other administrative work such as coordination of grant and project reporting, data management, contract preparation and permission applications, as well as helping with finances and HR-related tasks and in the introduction of new lab personnel. Tasks will also include communication tasks, such as maintenance of the web pages and other media channels. Support in applying for new research funding, managing ongoing projects and liaising with national and international collaborations are emphasised in the tasks of the research group. If the coordinator is interested and holds a suitable healthcare degree, they can also participate in patient recruitment and coordination of patient sample collections.
Requirements
A degree from higher education (bachelor's, master's or from a university of applied sciences) is required for successfully fulfilling the duties of the position. We are looking more the right person with the right attitude to work than a specific degree holder. The candidate should have excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, strong capability to work independently as well as cooperate harmoniously with research staff. Experience in project coordination and management in projects with international staff is appreciated. The candidate should have fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Finnish or other languages will be an advantage. Studies in relevant fields of science, such as biomedical or life sciences in general, and the ability to participate in scientific writing for funding applications and reporting will be considered as an asset.
