HR Information System Trainee for the New HR System (SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central) project

The University of Helsinki International trainee programme is open to all international students enrolled in a University of Helsinki master’s programme.

 

We are looking for a trainee for the New HR System implementation project.

 

You will primarily be working with tasks related to the New HR System (SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central) implementation project.

 

At the University of Helsinki, new HR system implementation project started in autumn 2025. SAP ERP HCM system will be replaced by SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central module. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central is the master system for position, employee, time and compensation data. In addition, service solution for onboarding and offboarding employees as well as other functionalities to streamline the processes, e.g. document management, will be implemented.

Main tasks of the trainee: instructions, HR clinics, phase 2 development

We are seeking a dedicated and organized trainee to assist with the tasks in the New HR system implementation project. As a trainee, you will work as a project team member in the project.

Your primary responsibility is to assist in project coordination, communications, HR system clinics, and further development. Additionally, you will help with the creation and maintenance of documentation such as user manuals and support the team in user training and delivery of system training to end users.

We are looking for candidates with a service-oriented attitude and excellent interpersonal skills in an international environment. You will be working in a multicultural setting that encompasses a wide range of disciplines and organizational cultures. It is essential to be systematic, cooperative, and able to work in an environment where changes are also possible. Fluency in working within a digital environment is required.

 

The specific focus of your responsibilities can be defined based on your experience, skills, and interests. You have fluency in spoken and written English. You have a proactive way of working and good communication and excellent teamwork skills. Experience in communications or project coordination is an advantage. Prior experience with SuccessFactors or other HRIS software, as well as knowledge of HR processes, such as employee onboarding, compensation administration, or time and attendance management are a plus but not required.

The duration of the traineeship is from 1 September to 31 December 2026 (four months) of part-time (55%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €825 per month for a part-time (55%) trainee.

HR Services

 

HR Services supports the University’s teaching and research by offering services to the leadership, supervisors and staff. We work particularly with the following issues:

  • Development of management and supervisory work 
  • Recruitment, talent acquisition and orientation 
  • Development of skills and career paths 
  • Development of the University organisation and the University’s operational culture 
  • Support for the occupational wellbeing of staff 
  • Employer–employee cooperation and development of the University as an employer 
  • HR systems and processes

HR Services has a staff of approximately 120 people. We work in central University-level services, the on-site services of faculties and other units, and Payroll Services. 

In central services, we develop HR services and processes at the University level. Our on-site services consist of six teams supporting and partnering with units in HR matters. Our Payroll Services are responsible for the University’s payroll management as well as advice on the whole lifecycle of employment. 

The HR Systems team is responsible for development and maintenance of HR systems.
