Your Role:

 

As a Software Developer, you will play a critical role in:

 

●    Developing Tools: Create computational tools and web UIs for efficient data browsing and visualisation.
●    Building Infrastructure: Implement big data analysis solutions to support complex queries and visualisations.
●    Pipeline Development: Design data-analysis pipelines for robust and reproducible processing of large datasets.
●    Collaborative Reporting: Contribute to project reports and engage actively in team meetings.

 

What You Bring:

 

Must-Have Qualifications:


●    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
●    1-3 years of software engineering experience.
●    Proficiency in general purpose programming languages such as Python, Java or C++
●    Experience with web UI development (React, TypeScript or JavaScript).
●    Strong understanding of databases (RDBMS, SQL, NoSQL) and experience with Linux, shell scripting, git, and containerization.
●    Good English communication skills; fluency in Finnish is not required.

 

Strong Assets:


●    Experience with cloud computing (preferably Google Cloud).
●    Knowledge of genetics, large-scale genotyping, sequencing data, and electronic health records (EHR).
●    Familiarity with statistics, machine learning, and big data technologies.
●    Knowledge of R statistical programming language

The position offers a contract until August 31, 2027, with a 6-month trial period. Salary is based on the University of Helsinki's salary system (YPJ), considering qualifications, experience, and performance.
